Safety

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) is an agency of the European Union with responsibility for civil aviation safety. It carries out certification, regulation and standardisation and also performs investigation and monitoring.

The monitoring in member states is done by the National Supervisory Authority (NSA, sometimes refered as the Competent Authority) which in most states reside under the Minister Of Transport.

Reg 2017/373 set out the obligation to have a management and safety management system in place.

To ensure proper software working of technical equipment, a Software Assurance Level (SWAL) requirement is in place.
